BreakingOgun State Designers Plugged Into Figma Config 2026 From Their Own Backyard

For most Nigerian designers, Figma Config has always been something you watch on your own. You find the stream, you follow along, and then you close your laptop with no one to talk to about what you just saw. Friends of Figma Abeokuta decided that was a problem worth solving.
Today, over a hundred designers, developers, and creatives gathered at ATB Tech Hub in Ogun State for the Abeokuta Config Watch Party 2026. The community brought Figma’s global conference into a local room, turning what is usually a solitary experience into something you could share with people who understand the work.
The event was organized by John Kent of Cre8ng Digitals, Abdulbasit Oyesiji, Ibraheem of Quata, Ayotomiwa Ajewole, and Joy Omowaye, all Friends of Figma leaders rooted in Ogun State. ATB Tech Hub and Cre8ng Digitals partnered to make it happen on the ground.
The agenda kept things focused. A welcome session led into a live stream of the Config 2026 keynote, followed by breakout discussions and open networking. No unnecessary ceremony. Just designers in a room, watching the same thing, talking through what it means for their work.
That format matters more than it might look like from the outside. A lot of the creative and design talent in Ogun State is building in relative isolation, without the benefit of being plugged into Lagos networks or global communities that designers in bigger tech hubs take for granted. Events like this chip away at that gap directly. You walk in a stranger and leave with contacts, context, and a clearer sense that you are not the only one taking this seriously in your city.
Friends of Figma Abeokuta has been quietly doing this work, connecting, designing, building, and today’s turnout was a sign that the community it has been nurturing is real and growing. For Ogun State’s design and tech ecosystem, that is exactly the kind of foundation worth paying attention to.
